THE BIRTH OF A RESCUE GROUP
HISTORY
Started with humble beginnings, the Ugong Special Rescue Unit was first conceptualized by barangay Kagawad, Hon. Felix P. Santos in 1997.
His idea was to have a specific vehicle for emergencies for the people of Ugong, so as to give transportation to anyone from the barangay to be brought to the hospital.
Up until today, through the joint effort and support of the Barangay Council, the USRU is one of the most recognizable well rounded Rescue Unit, not only in Manila but to the rest of the Philippines. And being featured as the rescuer for the month of January in the 2010 Holmatro Calendar, one of the respected rescue team in the barangay level bestowed with GAWAD KALASAG awards. The USRU is now slowly being known throughout the world.
VISION:
To established Brgy. Ugong into a secure society, in which the impact of hazards would not hamper development and the ecosystem and will further ensure the provision of a better quality of life through effective emergency and disaster services.
MISSION
Immediate & appropriate response.
OBJECTIVES:
To determine how & when to intervene.
To minimize the effect on people, property, and the environment.
To provide standard assistance or technical aspect of response
(Food & Nutrition, Water, Camp Planning/Shelter, Community Services, Registration & Distribution Systems, Health, Sanitation, and Logistics)
To seek help to other emergency and LGU units if necessary.
(Pasig City Command Center – C3, MMDA, Red Cross and other Rescue Units)
